Walnut & Rye Bread with Cheese, Pears and Honeyed Figs

Take 3 ripe pears and halve lengthways. Cut each half into 3 long slices. Arrange the slices on 6 individual plates, alongside 2-3 dried, honeyed figs and a large slice of a hard, flavoursome cheese, such as Beaufort, Lord of the Hundreds, cave-aged Emmental or Manchego. Add a slice or two of rye and walnut bread and serve.
